According to Valery Tagansky, a spokesman for the Novgorod District Court, a private detective, Roman Pavlov, was found guilty of four crimes under Part 1 of Art. 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (unlawful access to computer information protected by law, if this act entailed the copying of computer information), and one crime under Part 2 of Art. 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (unlawful access to computer-protected information by law, if this act entailed the copying of computer information, committed out of mercenary interest).

The court found that last spring Pavlov, registered as an individual entrepreneur and licensed to conduct private detective activities, in order to assist an unidentified person to collect and provide the latter with information about the victims, made unlawful access to computer-protected personal information about the law an indefinite number of citizens in addition to the will and desire of the latter.

At the same time, he used trusting relations with employees of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs. Illegal access to data was achieved through a computer provided to Pavlov for temporary use, connected to integrated data banks (IDB) of the Information Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Novgorod Region.

In addition, the court found that in April last year, in order to receive a monetary reward, still using a trusting relationship with an employee of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, through a computer connected to integrated data banks (ICD) of the Information Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Novgorod Region, Pavlov made unauthorized access to computer-protected information on the personal data of the founders of one of the LLC.

However, in this case, the “customer” acted as part of the operational-search measures “operational experiment”.

On April 19, during a personal meeting with the “customer,” Pavlov provided him with the desired information about the personal data of the founders of that LLC. For this, Pavlov received 3 thousand rubles as “payment for services”.

And was detained.

Pavlov pleaded guilty to the commission of "detective" crimes in full.

The verdict - at his request - was decided in a special judicial proceeding.

In the aggregate of crimes, Pavlov was sentenced to a fine of 150 thousand rubles.
