The results of the study amazed the scientists themselves. A core of 1318 companies was discovered that are closely connected with each other. And although the total profit of these companies does not exceed 20 percent of global profit, they, through subsidiaries and affiliates, own the majority of companies that earn real money. And thus, they control more than 60 percent of the world's income.
Continuing the research, scientists identified a super core of 147 companies that, through cross-ownership, actually own the same common assets. And these 147 companies own 40 percent of global wealth.
And in first place in the list of these companies is the English bank Barclays, which has existed for more than three hundred years. The list also includes the American trust company The Capital Group, the Swiss bank UBS, the French insurance company AXA, financial monsters JP Morgan Chase and Merrill Lynch.
Of course, we do not know whether the chairmen of the boards of these companies are going to meet somewhere on a secluded tropical island to discuss the fate of mankind. But even if they don’t intend, all the attempts of European politicians that we are observing now to come up with at least some way out of the debt crisis and save the eurozone look like sandbox games, around which faceless men in strict business suits stand and smile silently.
