On June 14, the 37-year-old seller of one of the local grocery stores turned to workers at the Shirokovsky regional police department in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The woman said that at noon an unknown man, going into the store, tried to pay for three packs of cigarettes with two notes in denominations of 10 hryvnia, reports nash-rayon.dp.ua.
But when the woman voiced doubts about the reality of money, the man ran away in an unknown direction. Soon, an unemployed 34-year-old citizen was detained. The man explained that he had made the withdrawn bills in 2009 using a computer and a color printer.
At home, the detainee voluntarily issued police and other banknotes. The total amount of seized counterfeit money amounted to 2,660 hryvnia.
According to the detainee, he lives with his mother and grandmother. Grandmother has been suffering from sclerosis for several years, so every time she received a pension, the old woman forgot where she put her, then she could throw money in the trash. Therefore, in order to maintain the family budget, relatives received an old woman's pension, and fake notes were given to her.
That evening, the man was drinking, and when he wanted to smoke, he decided to borrow a little from his grandmother's cache, forgetting about their "authenticity." Now the issue of initiating a criminal case is being decided.
