Hackers from the Anonymous movement disabled the Interpol website in response to the arrest of group members. A message about the attack was published on the night of February 29, Moscow time, in one of the traffic microblogging.
The Forbes publication notes that the website of the international department was subjected to a DDoS attack and went offline for 20 - 30 minutes. However, a few hours after reporting the attack, the Internet resource was still working intermittently: from about half of the points in different countries, according to the Host-Tracker service, the site remained inaccessible.
Whether any information was stolen as a result of the Anonymous campaign is not reported.
The attack on the Interpol website occurred hours after reports of the arrest of 25 members of the Anonymous movement. The operation involved law enforcement agencies in Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Spain, and their work was coordinated by Interpol. It is believed that those arrested organized and participated in cyber attacks on Chilean and Colombian government sites.
Earlier, Anonymous repeatedly attacked the Internet resources of large government departments and private corporations. So, on February 11, they were able to disable the Central Intelligence Agency website. And in December 2011, hackers broke into the computer network of a private intelligence company, Stratfor. At the end of February 2012, the WikiLeaks resource began parsing and publishing letters stolen from Stratfor.
