A forty-five-year-old janitor from Novosibirsk will be tried for an attempt to throw in ballots in the Duma elections on December 4, according to the website of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk Region. The janitor was detained on election day while trying to throw in 12 ballots.
According to the investigation, the man received these ballots from three unidentified persons who promised him 1000 rubles of compensation for the stuffing. A criminal case was instituted on the fact of an attempt to stuff ballots in part 3 of article 142 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The maximum sentence under this article is three years in prison.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, during the State Duma elections held on December 4, 2011, about three thousand violations of the electoral law were revealed, however, ballot stuffing made up a small part of their number. Сорокапятилетнего дворника из Новосибирска будут судить за попытку вброса избирательных бюллетеней на думских выборах 4 декабря, сообщается на сайте Следственного управления СК РФ по Новосибирской области. Дворник был задержан в день голосования при попытке вброса 12 бюллетеней.
