Washington is concerned about piracy and counterfeiting in Ukraine
The US administration has included Ukraine in the list of countries where appropriate measures are not taken to protect intellectual property
Ukraine has replenished itself with a list that includes 12 more countries that, according to the plans of the US administration, are subject to particularly careful monitoring as part of bilateral agreements. In addition to Ukraine, Algeria, Argentina, Canada, Chile, China, India, Indonesia, Israel, Pakistan, Russia, Thailand and Venezuela are included in this list.
As the representative of the President of the United States at international trade negotiations, Ron Kirk, said the report for this year seems especially relevant. He notes that in the United States, about 60 million people are employed in industries related to intellectual property, and the share of these industries in total exports reaches 60 percent.
Kirk says US trade partners who are not properly protecting intellectual property rights are endangering jobs and exports.
Calling on the Ukrainian authorities to tackle these problems, Kirk congratulated Malaysia and Spain on exclusion from this list. These countries have increased the effectiveness of copyright protection and the fight against Internet piracy.

Администрация США включила Украину в список стран, где не принимаются надлежащие меры для защиты интеллектуальной собственности
Украина пополнила собой список, в котором оказались еще 12 стран, которые, согласно планам администрации США, подлежат особо внимательному наблюдению в рамках двусторонних договоренностей. Кроме Украины в этот список включены Алжир, Аргентина, Канада, Чили, Китай, Индия, Индонезия, Израиль, Пакистан, Россия, Таиланд и Венесуэла.
Как сказал представитель президента США на международных торговых переговорах Рон Керк, отчет за этот год представляется особенно актуальным. Он отмечает, что в США в отраслях, связанных с интеллектуальной собственностью, заняты около 60 миллионов человек, а доля этих отраслей в общем объеме экспорта достигает 60 процентов.
Кирк говорит, что торговые партнеры США, должным образом не защищающие права интеллектуальной собственности, ставят под угрозу рабочие места и экспорт.
Призвав власти Украины заняться решением этих проблем, Кирк поздравил Малайзию и Испанию с исключением из этого списка. В этих странах повышена эффективность защиты авторских прав и борьбы с интернет-пиратством.
