Followers of the Nazis in the Crimea: looters rob the dead

More than 700 meters concrete columns stretch from the road into the field, indicating a long-covered anti-tank moat on the 10th kilometer of the Feodosia highway. This year, on both sides of it, they decided to plant trees, they will grow up - and already a green memory alley will mark the place where one of the worst Crimean tragedies took place. But the tree planting campaign did not go exactly as intended.
The moat is the mass grave of Jews and Krymchaks who were shot by the Nazis in December 1941. It is not known how many of them lie here, the numbers are called different, from 13 to 15 to 16 thousand people. People who come here almost never go further than a monument erected near the highway, well, unless they walk to the beginning of the moat to leave flowers there. And tree planting required more thorough exploration on the ground ...

“We decided to get together about two hours before the start of the action to look around,” Victoria Plotkina, director of the Hesed Shimon Jewish charity center, told 1K. - In the field, about three hundred meters from the monument, they noticed patches of disturbed land, it was clear that the soil was taken out from deeper layers, it was light. We went even further - and saw fragments of skulls, vertebrae, a small rib - a child’s, probably ... "
At that moment no one had any idea of the scope with which "work" was being conducted. On one of the sections of the ditch, the legs began to go deep, almost fall into the ground: and concrete should be below. A few more meters passed - and there, a completely fresh ground darkened, covering a wide board. Further the place was examined by the called law enforcement officers. “Under the layer of earth was ... a door frame with a real door,” recalls Victoria Plotkina. - And under it are several wooden beams: a very neat entrance to the shaft, from which there were passages in both directions. When we passed from the middle of the moat to its distant end, we saw the same poured dips, no one opened them. ”
How long did the looters hunt here - a month, two, six, a year? Apparently, this is not about one-time attempts to find anything of value in the mass grave, they very carefully masked their moleholes, the traces of earlier excavations are too eloquent. It was not an easy job: to remove a layer of concrete, dig a pit, making its way to the remains, raise them to the surface to thoroughly scour ... Such work cannot be done alone. On the field, the participants in the tree planting campaign saw wheel marks - so there was a car? And surely someone was buying prey extracted from the grave. Crimean looters turned out to be worthy heirs of the Nazis: they also robbed the dead.
It happened before
Everything has returned. After all, it was already a quarter of a century ago criminal case No. 1586 - about looters who discovered the “gold mine”, a huge mass grave on the 10th kilometer of the Feodosia highway. And here is what the representatives of the ARC Preservation Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage departed to the mass grave saw: “A pit left by unknown persons with the aim of robbing things shot to a depth of 2.3 m, a width of 0.9 m and a length of 2.3 was discovered m. On the surface of the earth are human remains, the remains of clothes and shoes, personal belongings of the executed. ” And there were fresh injuries on the human jaws - crowns were broken out of them. The things collected from the earth, which outlived much their masters — buckles, buttons, several plastic combs — were transferred to the Central Museum of Tauris.
Not a hopeless case
Vyacheslav Zarubin, Head of the Inspection, Architecture and Restoration Department of the ARC Rescue Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, explained to 1K that the anti-tank moat on the 10th kilometer of the Feodosia highway, the place of mass executions, was entered in the state register of immovable monuments of Ukraine, it has a protected zone and is a local history monument.
People who unearthed the mass grave committed a crime for the assessment of which the Criminal Code of Ukraine contains article 298 (destruction, destruction or damage to cultural heritage sites and unauthorized search work at an archaeological site). The punishment that may threaten looters is a fine of up to 1.7 thousand UAH. or imprisonment for up to 3 years. In the rich in robbery of monuments of the recent history of Crimea there were cases when such lovers were identified and detained to enrich themselves. More often they just escaped with a slight fright - fines and conditional sentences, but still there were those who received a real term.
The ARC Rescommittee on the Protection of Cultural Heritage has already applied to the Simferopol regional police department with a request to institute criminal proceedings on the fact of the looting of the mass grave.
I would like to believe that this case of looters will still be investigated, it is not at all hopeless. It cannot be that the inhabitants of a nearby summer cottage did not see or hear anything at all; it doesn’t happen that at least a couple of months in the field, even at night, excavations are going on, at least one car regularly comes in, and no one suspected something was amiss. And by the way, it is unlikely that some kind of "landing" would dig out the grave from outside the Crimea.
But something else needs to be done with the remains that the marauders threw to the surface. According to Victoria Plotkina, they will be gathered and buried again in a mass grave in compliance with all religious rites. A letter will be sent to the Trudovsk Village Council, in the territory of which the mass grave is located, with a request to assist in the reburial.
The Jewish community is now worried not only about the possible resumption of marauding raids on the site of mass shootings in Simferopol (but you can’t put security here, and a quarter of a century ago, the traffic police stationary station located near the ditch didn’t prevent the marauders from working), but also that attempts to plunder the graves of victims of mass executions may be repeated in other parts of the Crimea. Greed and desire for profit in any way are contagious. Here is another quote from Voznesensky: “On the first day of the process, they say, the hall was filled with inquiring personalities, attentive to the coordinates of the burial. On the second day, the hall was empty - they rushed to implement the information received. "Shovels, bayonet and shovels, were hidden in the neighboring rural cemetery."

Последователи фашистов в Крыму: мародеры грабят мертвых

Больше чем на 700 метров тянутся от дороги в поле бетонные столбики, обозначающие давно засыпанный противотанковый ров на 10-м километре феодосийского шоссе. В этом году по обе стороны от него решили высадить деревья, они подрастут — и уже зеленая аллея памяти будет обозначать место, где произошла одна из самых страшных крымских трагедий. Но акция по высадке деревьев прошла совсем не так, как задумывалось.
Ров — это братская могила евреев и крымчаков, расстрелянных фашистами в декабре 1941 года. Сколько их здесь лежит, неизвестно, цифры называют разные, от 13 до 15 — 16 тысяч человек. Люди, приезжающие сюда, почти никогда не идут дальше памятника, установленного недалеко от трассы, ну разве что прошагают к началу рва, чтобы оставить там цветы. А посадка деревьев потребовала более тщательной разведки на местности…
Кротовые норы
«Мы решили собраться часа за два до начала акции, чтобы осмотреться, — рассказала «1К» директор благотворительного еврейского центра «Хесед Шимон» Виктория Плоткина. — В поле, метрах в трехстах от памятника, заметили участки потревоженной земли, было видно, что грунт вынимался из более глубоких слоев, он был светлым. Прошли еще дальше — и увидели фрагменты черепов, позвонки, ребрышко маленькое — детское, наверное…»
О размахе, с которым тут велись «работы», в тот момент еще никто не догадывался. На одном из участков рва ноги стали глубоко уходить, почти проваливаться в землю: а ведь внизу должен быть бетон. Прошли еще несколько метров — а там темнела совсем свежая земля, прикрывавшая широкую доску. Дальше место осматривали вызванные правоохранители. «Под слоем земли оказалась… дверная коробка с самой настоящей дверью, — вспоминает Виктория Плоткина. — А под ней несколько деревянных брусьев: очень аккуратно сделанный вход в шахту, от которой шли ходы в обе стороны. Когда мы прошли от середины рва к его дальнему концу, то увидели такие же засыпанные провалы, их уже никто не вскрывал».
Сколько времени промышляли здесь мародеры — месяц, два, шесть, год? Судя по всему, речь идет не о разовых попытках найти что-либо ценное в братской могиле, очень уж тщательно маскировали они свои кротовые норы, слишком красноречивы следы более ранних раскопок. Это был нелегкий труд: снять слой бетона, вырыть шурф, пробиваясь к останкам, поднимать их на поверхность, чтобы тщательно обшарить… Такую работу не проделать в одиночку. На поле участники акции по посадке деревьев видели следы колес — значит, была машина? И наверняка кто-то покупал извлеченную из могилы добычу. Крымские мародеры оказались достойными наследниками фашистов: те тоже грабили мертвых.

Все вернулось. Ведь было уже четверть века назад уголовное дело №1586 — о мародерах, открывших для себя «золотой прииск», огромную братскую могилу на 10-м километре феодосийского шоссе. Были ужаснувший всю страну симферопольский процесс и знаменитая поэма Андрея Вознесенского «Ров», вся будто пронизанная недоумением: есть ли мерило человеческой алчности и низости? «Одного спросили: «Как вы себя чувствовали, роя?» Ответил: «А как бы вы чувствовали себя, вынимая золотой мост, поврежденный пулей? Или вытащив детский ботиночек с остатком кости?» Они с трудом добились, чтобы скупка приняла этот бракованный товар... Бранились, что металл скверной пробы. Ворчали, что тела сброшены беспорядочной грудой, трудно работать. Один работал в яме, двое вверху принимали и разбивали черепа, вырывали плоскогубцами зубы», — это из Вознесенского. Те мародеры, которых судили четверть века назад, оставляли в вырытых во рве шахтах заботливо укрытый инструмент — а по краям ям валялись выброшенные, как мусор, человеческие останки вперемешку с обрывками истлевшей одежды и обуви.
А вот что увидели выехавшие 23 апреля к братской могиле представители Рескомитета АРК по охране культурного наследия: «Обнаружена яма, оставленная неизвестными лицами с целью грабежа вещей расстрелянных, глубиной до 2,3 м, шириной до 0,9 м и длиной до 2,3 м. На поверхности земли разбросаны человеческие останки, остатки одежды и обуви, личные вещи расстрелянных». И на человеческих челюстях были свежие повреждения — из них выламывали коронки. Собранные с земли вещи, намного пережившие своих хозяев, — пряжки, пуговицы, несколько пластмассовых расчесок — были переданы в Центральный музей Тавриды.
Не безнадежное дело
Начальник управления по инспектированию, архитектуре и реставрации Рескомитета АРК по охране культурного наследия Вячеслав Зарубин пояснил «1К», что противотанковый ров на 10-м километре феодосийского шоссе, место массовых казней, внесен в государственный реестр недвижимых памятников Украины, он имеет охранную зону и является памятником истории местного значения.
Люди, раскапывавшие братскую могилу, совершили преступление, для оценки которого в УК Украины имеется статья 298 (уничтожение, разрушение либо повреждение объектов культурного наследия и самовольное проведение поисковых работ на археологическом памятнике). Наказание, которое может грозить мародерам, — штраф до 1,7 тыс. грн. либо лишение свободы на срок до 3 лет. В богатой ограблениями памятников новейшей истории Крыма были случаи, когда выявляли и задерживали таких любителей обогатиться. Чаще они как раз отделывались легким испугом — штрафами и условными приговорами, но все-таки были и такие, кто получил реальный срок.
Рескомитет АРК по охране культурного наследия уже обратился в симферопольский райотдел милиции с просьбой возбудить уголовное дело по факту разграбления братской могилы.
Хотелось бы верить, что это дело о мародерах все-таки будет расследоваться, оно вовсе не безнадежное. Не может быть, чтобы жители ближнего дачного поселка совсем ничего не видели и не слышали; не бывает так, чтобы как минимум пару месяцев в поле, пусть и ночью, шли раскопки, заезжала регулярно как минимум одна машина, — и никто не заподозрил неладное. И кстати, маловероятно, чтобы могилу раскапывал какой-нибудь «десант» из-за пределов Крыма.
А ведь еще что-то нужно делать с останками, которые мародеры выбросили на поверхность. По словам Виктории Плоткиной, их соберут и снова захоронят в братской могиле с соблюдением всех религиозных обрядов. В Трудовской сельский совет, на территории которого находится братская могила, будет направлено письмо с просьбой посодействовать перезахоронению.
Еврейскую общину сейчас беспокоит не только возможное возобновление мародерских набегов на место массовых расстрелов в Симферополе (а ведь сюда охрану не поставить, да и четверть века назад мародерам не помешал «работать» стационарный пост ГАИ, расположенный неподалеку от рва), но и то, что попытки разграбления могил жертв массовых расстрелов могут повториться в других уголках Крыма. Жадность и стремление к наживе любым путем заразны. Вот еще цитата из Вознесенского: «В первый день процесса, говорят, зал был заполнен пытливыми личностями, внимающими координатам захоронения. На второй день зал опустел — кинулись реализовывать полученные сведения. Лопаты, штыковые и совковые, прятали на соседствующем сельском кладбище».
А сегодня разве меньше их — оскудевших душою и чувствами, которые пойдут по могилам, по костям, по памяти?

Чаще они как раз отделывались легким испугом — штрафами и условными приговорами, но все-таки были и такие, кто получил реальный срок.
Рескомитет АРК по охране культурного наследия уже обратился в симферопольский райотдел милиции с просьбой возбудить уголовное дело по факту разграбления братской могилы.
Хотелось бы верить, что это дело о мародерах все-таки будет расследоваться, оно вовсе не безнадежное. Не может быть, чтобы жители ближнего дачного поселка совсем ничего не видели и не слышали; не бывает так, чтобы как минимум пару месяцев в поле, пусть и ночью, шли раскопки, заезжала регулярно как минимум одна машина, — и никто не заподозрил неладное. И кстати, маловероятно, чтобы могилу раскапывал какой-нибудь «десант» из-за пределов Крыма.
А ведь еще что-то нужно делать с останками, которые мародеры выбросили на поверхность. По словам Виктории Плоткиной, их соберут и снова захоронят в братской могиле с соблюдением всех религиозных обрядов. В Трудовской сельский совет, на территории которого находится братская могила, будет направлено письмо с просьбой посодействовать перезахоронению.
Еврейскую общину сейчас беспокоит не только возможное возобновление мародерских набегов на место массовых расстрелов в Симферополе (а ведь сюда охрану не поставить, да и четверть века назад мародерам не помешал «работать» стационарный пост ГАИ, расположенный неподалеку от рва), но и то, что попытки разграбления могил жертв массовых расстрелов могут повториться в других уголках Крыма. Жадность и стремление к наживе любым путем заразны. Вот еще цитата из Вознесенского: «В первый день процесса, говорят, зал был заполнен пытливыми личностями, внимающими координатам захоронения. На второй день зал опустел — кинулись реализовывать полученные сведения. Лопаты, штыковые и совковые, прятали на соседствующем сельском кладбище».
А сегодня разве меньше их — оскудевших душою и чувствами, которые пойдут по могилам, по костям, по памяти?
