On the evening of May 12, an action by activists of non-governmental organizations BelarusWatch and StudAlliance took place on the square in front of the railway station in Vilnius as part of the civil campaign “Without a visa!” Aimed at canceling the visa regime with Belarus.
The action was timed to coincide with the opening of the installation “For centuries together, and now ...”, which symbolizes the barriers between Belarus and Lithuania.
As BelaPAN was informed by one of the organizers Ales Gerasimenko, the volunteers of the campaign “Without a visa!” held a game, the participants of which passed a kind of “border point on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border”, specially built on the square in front of Vilnius train station. They were invited to go through all the procedures faced by Belarusians and Lithuanians who want to enter the territory of a neighboring state.
“We offered passers-by, among whom were Belarusians, Lithuanians, Russians and even one American, to cross the border, having gone through all the circles of this procedure before: obtaining insurance, visas, overcoming customs, and so on,” Gerasimenko said.
According to him, during the hour of the rally, more than 50 people took part in it, who, after “crossing the border”, were invited to speak out about this. Basically, the activist said, people supported the idea of canceling visas and, accordingly, problems associated with obtaining them.
During the campaign, a collection of signatures was also organized under the “Anti-visa manifest”. Also, the protesters were able to sign postcards on which they expressed their attitude to visa barriers. Later, these cards will be sent to the state bodies of Lithuania and Belarus.

На площади перед железнодорожным вокзалом в Вильнюсе вечером 12 мая прошла акция активистов негосударственных организаций BelarusWatch и StudAlliance в рамках гражданской кампании «Без визы!», направленной на отмену визового режима с Беларусью.
Акция была приурочена к открытию инсталляции «Столетиями вместе, а теперь…», которая символизирует барьеры между Беларусью и Литвой.
Как сообщил БелаПАН один из организаторов Алесь Герасименко, волонтеры кампании «Без визы!» провели игру, участники которой проходили своеобразный «пограничный пункт на белорусско-литовской границе», специально сооруженный на площади перед вильнюсским вокзалом. Им предлагалось пройти все процедуры, с которыми сталкиваются белорусы и литовцы, желающие попасть на территорию соседнего государства.
«Мы предлагали прохожим, среди которых были белорусы, литовцы, русские и даже один американец, пересечь границу, пройдя перед этим все круги этой процедуры: получение страховки, визы, преодоление таможни и так далее», — рассказал Герасименко.
По его словам, за час проведения акции в ней приняло участие более 50 человек, которым после «пересечения границы» было предложено высказаться по этому поводу. В основном, сообщил активист, люди поддерживали идею отмены виз и, соответственно, связанных с их получением проблем.
В ходе акции также был организован сбор подписей под «Антивизовым манифестом». Также участники акции смогли подписать открытки, на которых высказывали свое отношение к визовым барьерам. Позже эти открытки будут направлены в государственные органы Литвы и Беларуси.
