Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Smirny, who oversaw the department’s reform, Yury Draguntsov, head of the GUSB, and several other leaders resigned.
"Deputy Minister Alexander Smirny, head of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Yuri Draguntsov, and several other leaders wrote reports requesting resignation from their posts. Now these reports are under consideration by the Minister," a source in the ministry told RIA Novosti.
Officially, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has not yet commented on this information.
Smirny has held the post of deputy minister since 2008, before that he headed the organizational and inspection department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Draguntsov heads the GUSB, which over the past six years has had the status of a department.

"Замминистра Александр Смирный, начальник главного управления собственной безопасности МВД Юрий Драгунцов и еще несколько руководителей написали рапорты с просьбой об отставке с занимаемых должностей. Сейчас эти рапорты находятся на рассмотрении у министра", - сообщил РИА Новости источник в министерстве.
