The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has allocated a billion dollars to finalize the next generation face recognition system, the effectiveness of which is now 92%.
This system allows you to identify a person’s personality, even if he does not look directly into the camera’s lens. As a resource, the program uses the constantly updated database of the FBI, which (at the moment) includes more than one and a half million photographs of citizens who have proved themselves not to be the best. It should be noted that the first reports on The Next Generation Identification (NGI) appeared in the Western media two years ago and were met by the public ambiguously. Still, what a field for speculation about the "Black Helicopters"!
Fresh injections are most likely aimed at eliminating the existing shortcomings, the most significant of which is the low percentage of successful recognition in poor lighting, which reduces to zero the effectiveness of the system at night.
The FBI expects to see the first results of financial investments by 2014.

Федеральное Бюро Расследований США выделило миллиард долларов на доработку системы распознавания лиц следующего поколения, эффективность которой уже сейчас составляет 92%.
Эта система позволяет идентифицировать личность человека, даже если он не смотрит в объектив камеры напрямую. В качестве ресурса, программа использует постоянно пополняющуюся базу данных ФБР, которая (на данный момент) включает в себя более полутора миллионов снимков граждан, зарекомендовавших себя не с лучшей стороны. Кроме этого, очевидно, программа и сама может пополнять эту базу.
Следует отметить, что первые сообщения о The Next Generation Identification (NGI) появились в западных СМИ еще два года назад и были встречены общественностью неоднозначно. Еще бы, какое поле для спекуляций о "Черных Вертолетах"!
Свежие вливания, скорее всего, направлены на устранение имеющихся недостатков, самый значимый из которых - низкий процент удачных распознаваний при плохом освещении, который сводит к нулю эффективность системы в ночное время.
Первые результаты финансовых вложений ФБР ожидает увидеть к 2014 году.
По неподтвержденным данным, разработкой аналогичного софта, только с упором на использование дорожной полицией, заняты и российские специалисты.
