The only gangster who was not killed by the Tula farmer Sargsyan who defended his family was seized near Moscow
Police detained a man suspected of assaulting the house of a Tula businessman Gegham Sargsyan in April this year, NEWSru.com writes. Then the bandit managed to escape after the owner, protecting the house, took up a knife and cut three robbers who threatened his family.
Despite the fact that the crime was committed in the Tula region, they managed to find a fugitive in the suburbs. "On the night of May 30–31, 2012 ... by the officers of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Tula Region together with officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia ... this person was detained," says the website of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tula Region.
Currently, the detainee has been delivered to Tula, where operatives work with him. The organizer and accomplice of this crime, which is being held in a pre-trial detention center, was previously detained.
Nevertheless, the police are in no hurry to deprive the Sargsyan family of protection. "According to my information, it has not yet been withdrawn," Anatoly Kucherena, a member of the Russian Public Chamber, lawyer told Interfax on Thursday. At the same time, for some reason he called Sargsyan Baghdasaryan.
Answering a question about the versions of the crime, the lawyer said that "it is most likely a matter of contract attack." "Someone gave information that Baghdasaryan had a lot of money, and according to this tip the bandits broke into his house. Now the investigation is finding out all this," the lawyer added.
He also commented on one of the earlier versions about the possible involvement of the son of the head of the family in the incident, in particular, that he might have debts, because of which the bandits attacked the family. However, according to Kucherena, "this version is not confirmed."
The robbery against the 52-year-old Tula businessman and his family was committed in the village of Oktyabrskoye, the city of Bogoroditsk, on April 7. Four criminals entered the house and, threatening the owner of the house, his wife and young children, began to demand money and jewelry. According to one of the phrases thrown by the bandits, Sargsyan realized that the attackers intend not only to rob them, but also to kill, after which he rushed to protect the family. He managed to kill three of the attackers, after which the last bandit rushed to run. The owner himself also received injuries in the fight and was hospitalized, his son's wife was given medical assistance.
The crime caused a wide public outcry; an inspection was conducted against Sargsyan, recognizing that the actions of the entrepreneur did not go beyond the limits of necessary self-defense.
Law enforcement authorities also managed to establish that all the attackers were residents of the Moscow region. However, the exact reason why they arrived in Tula and decided to attack the Sargsyan’s house has not yet been found out.
