Despite living a few hard months in the sector, private detectives have seen how requests that were previously specific cases came to them and today they occupy a large part of their work, especially in terms of telework control, which as a result of the pandemic has been established in many companies and entities. «Employers had suspicions that working hours and days were not being observed . These investigations were focused on people who had to carry out their activity at home, usually connected to their computer or attending clients by telephone, "he explains. Vicente Delgado , a detective in Zaragoza and director of Inveszar Detectives, as well as former president of the Professional Association of Private Detectives of Spain (Apdpe).“In the case of teleworking, it is necessary to know that we carry out our work outside the person's home, so we only investigate when the individual leaves their home. Normally this has occurred during their working hours and we have been able to verify these situations with considerable difficulty, conditioned above all by the few people on the street , which attracted a lot of attention in any place ", explains Delgado.
These issues to be investigated no longer only focus on the control of teleworking. The companies also hire the services of private detectives to follow up the workers who they pretended to be with risky people at home (or having had contact with a positive case of covid-19) to request sick leave and not go to your job. Covid and the profession
Since the start of the pandemic in March of last year and during the duration of the consequent restrictions that mainly affected the movements of all citizens, the profession of private detective has radically changed . The number of cases decreased for the vast majority of these very special workers "throughout the national territory," says Delgado.“Being restricted at first in homes meant that people, by not leaving home, did not carry out personal or work activities beyond those authorized. At 50% during 2020
Undoubtedly, and as in many sectors of the country, the pandemic has led to a clear reduction in work for detectives. "There is no statistic in this regard in this matter to be able to determine the drop in the demand for private detectives during the pandemic, since other types of issues appeared to be carried out," says Delgado.However, the director of Inveszar believes that there was a decrease, 'roughly', 40% or 50% during the year 2020 only in Aragon. In this case, Bernal says, there were more requests from Zaragoza to investigate cases in Huesca than those received in the capital of Huesca itself. "It was not profitable."

Al escuchar hablar de los detectives privados, a cualquiera se le viene a la mente alguna de las numerosas películas protagonizadas por estos audaces personajes. No obstante, la realidad del día a día de los detectives en España y Aragón dista bastante de lo que se ve en la ficción de la pantalla grande. A raíz de la pandemia, el sector ha sufrido pérdidas económicas y los clientes han disminuido en el último año y medio. Desde el inicio del confinamiento, y con todas las restricciones que se han ido sucediendo, la profesión se ha visto afectada e incluso ha cambiado.RELACIONADAS
Cuando se cierra una puerta, se abre una ventana. A pesar de vivir unos duros meses en el sector, los detectives privados han visto cómo les llegaban pedidos que anteriormente eran casos puntuales y hoy en día ocupan una gran parte de su trabajo, sobre todo en cuanto al control del teletrabajo, que a consecuencia de la pandemia se ha instaurado en muchas empresas y entidades. «Los empleadores tenían sospechas de que no se estaban cumpliendo los horarios ni las jornadas laborales. Estas investigaciones estaban centradas en las personas que tenían que realizar su actividad en su domicilio, normalmente conectados a su ordenador o atendiendo telefónicamente clientes», explica Vicente Delgado, detective en Zaragoza y director de Inveszar Detectives, además de expresidente de la Asociación Profesional de Detectives Privados de España (Apdpe).«En el caso del teletrabajo hay que saber que nosotros realizamos nuestro trabajo fuera del domicilio de la persona, por lo que solo investigamos cuando el individuo sale de su domicilio. Normalmente eso se ha producido durante su horario laboral y hemos podido comprobar estas situaciones con bastante dificultad, condicionados sobre todo por la poca gente que había por la calle, lo que llamaba mucho la atención en cualquier lugar», explica Delgado.
Estos asuntos a investigar ya no solo se centran en el control del teletrabajo. Las empresas también contratan los servicios de los detectives privados para hacer un seguimiento de los trabajadores que fingían estar con personas de riesgo en su domicilio (o haber tenido contacto con un caso positivo de covid-19) para solicitar la baja laboral y no acudir a su puesto de trabajo. Delgado asegura que en numerosas ocasiones encontraban a estas personas investigadas fuera de su domicilio, lo que verificaba que los motivos de la baja no eran ciertos.
Asimismo, las custodias de los niños están cobrando especial importancia en las investigaciones que realizan los detectives privados. «Algunos progenitores indican también situaciones de riesgo y confinamiento domiciliario para no entregar al niño o niña a su padre o madre en el periodo en el que les correspondía estar con el otro progenitor», indica el expresidente de la Apdpe.
El covid y la profesión
Desde el inicio de la pandemia en marzo del año pasado y durante el tiempo que duran las consiguientes restricciones que afectaron principalmente a los desplazamientos de todos los ciudadanos, la profesión del detective privado ha cambiado de forma radical. El número de asuntos disminuyó para la gran mayoría de estos trabajadores tan especiales «en todo el territorio nacional», asegura Delgado.«Estar restringidos en un primer momento en los domicilios significó que las personas, al no salir de casa, no realizaban actividades ni personales ni laborales mas allá de las que se autorizaron. En nuestro caso, como profesionales, incluso existió un tiempo en el que tampoco estábamos autorizados a trabajar en la calle, aunque finalmente se consiguió que el Ministerio del Interior entendiera que éramos una actividad que precisaba trabajar en la calle», explica este detective privado de Zaragoza.
A pesar de la autorización del ministerio para poder salir a la calle para continuar las investigaciones y, en definitiva, trabajar, «muchas de las investigaciones se vinieron abajo», apunta Delgado. El que fuera vicepresidente de la Apdpe pone como ejemplo el caso de los lesionados cuyas empresas piden un control a los detectives para llevar un seguimiento de su estado físico. «Al no salir de casa, no podíamos determinar si se estaba fingiendo o no una situación médica. Tampoco podíamos comprobar si una baja laboral era real o no».
Al 50% durante 2020
Sin duda alguna, y al igual que en muchos sectores del país, la pandemia ha supuesto una clara reducción de trabajo para los detectives. «No hay una estadística al respecto en esta cuestión para poder determinar la bajada en la demanda de detectives privados durante la pandemia, ya que aparecieron otro tipo de temas a realizar», asegura Delgado.No obstante, el director de Inveszar cree que hubo un descenso, 'grosso modo', del 40% o el 50% durante el año 2020 solo en Aragón. La principal consecuencia fue para muchos despachos la económica, algo que provocó incluso que algunos de ellos tuvieran que cerrar el año pasado. Así les sucedió a Detective Service, una agencia de detectives en Zaragoza que contaban antes de la pandemia con una sede en la ciudad de Huesca. «La demanda de nuestros servicios bajó tanto que tuvimos que cerrar nuestra delegación en Huesca», explica Santiago Bernal, miembro del despacho, ya que «los clientes han sufrido también las consecuencias económicas y anteponen otras necesidades a contratar un detective privado para solucionar sus problemas». En este caso, dice Bernal, eran más las peticiones provenientes de Zaragoza para investigar casos en Huesca que los que recibían en la propia capital oscense. «No salía rentable».
