Consideration of any design project dedicated to public communications should be divided into two parts - design and images, although both of these parts are inseparable for the final product. If the design of money can be solved by the designers themselves, as shown by the graduation project of Maxim Rodin1) 2005 in Stroganovka, as well as the earlier project “New Money” by Marat Gelman’s gallery, the problem of images remains one of the most complex, controversial and unresolved problems.
Historically, the most trusted were always the images of specific historical figures and no abstract symbols, landscapes and views of the country and even allegorical images (for example, a very successful series of banknotes of 1895-1898 with images of “Russia” or the early Soviet experimental images of the 1920s ), no matter how well they were performed, cannot replace the images of people. The “reliability” of money is based on people's images and they enjoy great confidence, as they symbolize historical and semantic continuity and stability.
In pre-revolutionary Russia, the problem of images could not have arisen; portraits of tsars and emperors were placed on banknotes (Dmitry Donskoy, Mikhail Fedorovich, Alexei Mikhailovich, in the series 1866-1886, Peter I and Catherine II in the series 1898-1912, Nikolai I in the series 1899. There is no single semantic and communicative strategy with respect to state communications, and although one of the most acute periods in the 90s, when old images collapsed and new ones were not yet created or were very unstable, was passed, but a common position was not developed, but all suggestions are tied to the unresolved nature of this problem.
In the 90s, the solution of urgent tasks for the new design of money was found in the form of neutral images, partially using the visual elements of old money (although soon they were increasingly moving away from them). On the banknotes of 1992-1993, the views of the Kremlin with the deliberately emphasized Russian tricolor were actively exploited, then this series was replaced by the views of the Russian regions (1995-1997 series), which still exists today.
Perhaps for the transitional time this “landscape money” was, indeed, a way out, but now such neutral images do not meet the semantic agenda.
In this regard, the graduation project of Maxim Rodin is not included in the development of new images, although he significantly modernizes the old ones in terms of visual performance, leaving the types of federal districts at the topography level, getting rid of images of specific monuments on the existing series. The landscape characteristic of the chosen territory on one side turns into a graphic texture of the map on the other.
The territory of Russia here itself becomes mainly, but is it tangible enough? The desire to get away from traditional banknote solutions is understandable, but it is impossible to break away from semantic and historical problems. These seemingly mutually exclusive, but not resolved individually or as a whole problems will continue to break any design project related to state communications ...
Unlike semantic and symbolic, the graphic design of Maxim Rodin’s project is strong enough to become a worthy subject for professional discussion, especially against the background of the existing “walker” (oh, this terrible “Adver Gothic”!) ...
The positive aspects of the project are the restoration of traditional monetary denominations (1, 3, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 rubles), color coding (although, according to the author, the color scheme of seven denominations of banknotes symbolizes the number of districts), there was a place for the Russian national emblem, which is absent (!) on modern banknotes. The project speaks the language of modern stylistics, referring to Swiss francs or euros.
Representatives of Goznak usually speak only about technologies for protecting banknotes (which is natural), but the aesthetic side is taking the last place. And such projects can fill this gap and offer a lot of finds, therefore, the encouragement of such initiatives should remain an important component of the strategy to develop effective public communications.
The national currency is essentially the title element of the state symbolic set; it forms the economic image and image of the state as a whole. But here we run into a misunderstanding of the importance of visual communications among officials and managers, a reluctance to conclude a kind of social contract with designers, which at least shows the story with the ruble sign.

Думаю, многие помнит, как весной 2008 года тогда еще президент РФ ВВП по телевизору отвечал на вопрос о том, будет или не будет деноминация. Он тогда показывал пальцем в цветочный горшок и говорил что-то вроде: "Я что, землю из этого горшка есть должен, чтобы вы поверили что не будет деноминации?".
Я попытался установить, откуда все это пошло. И установил. Причем еще месяца за три до эпизода с цветком и телевидением.
Букаф будет много.
На интернет-форумах и в Живом Журнале идет по нарастающей обсуждение якобы грядущей весной 2008 года деноминации с заменой купюр на другие, похожие на евро.
Я попробовал пройти по цепочке назад, чтобы понять, откуда это все появилось и когда.
Получилось примерно так:
В 2005 году Максимом Родиным была написана дипломная работа по дизайну денег. Картинки были тогда опубликованы в журнале «Designer» № 10/2005.
17.08.2007 вышла статья Деньги России, где изображения купюр, взятые из этого журнала, обсуждались исключительно с точки зрения дизайна. То же было и в комментариях к статье.
21 Ноября 2007 на блоге gvozdeff появился пост “О грядущей деноминации”, в котором “по секрету” сообщалось, что эти купюры - для грядущей деноминации. Комментарии к тому посту составили шесть страниц.

Тогда же зафиксирован резкий всплеск упоминаний в блогсфере:

Уважаемый gvozdeff рассказал о том, как ему удалось стать фактически родоначальником слуха о якобы грядущей деноминации в стране.
На мой взгляд, эта история отлично демонстрирует, как правильно вброшенная в блогосферу информация способна поднять волну такой силы, что первым лицам государства приходится объясняться по этому поводу перед журналистами ведущих телекомпаний и печатных изданий.
Вот, что сказал gvozdeff в ответ на мою просьбу прокомментировать ситуацию о том, что фактически он и сайт Fishki.net создал эту волну: "А если серьезно, то все случайно получилось. Решил приколоться, попросил друзей ссылки кинуть. Случайно в топ вышел. А потом лента.ру про это написала. И еще журнал 'Rolling Stone'. Так что, я сам еще механизма не понял. Видимо, дело в том, что тема людей очень интересует, а не в технологиях раскрутки."
Мой ответ уважаемому gvozdeff: "Вы правы в том, что тема попала на подготовленную почву. Точка оказалась настолько удачной, что при малейшем толчке вся система зашаталась. А сделать из этого технологию раскрутки - вопрос технический. Ведь всегда можно найти тему, которая волнует людей. или создать такую тему - в качестве подготовительного этапа.
Так что, похоже, Вы эту технологию раскрутки уже сделали. Пусть и ненамеренно

У меня, кстати, вызывают вопросы в этом визуальном ряду некие имеющие границы образования, выделенные цветом на обеих “купюрах”. Не подскажете, что это за государства/республики/области и почему их так выделили? Или это федеральные округа, надписанные на купюре?

О грядущей деноминации
Тут стало известно из компетентных источников, что в ЦБ готовят новую деноминацию, сроки и дата старта пока не известны. Сколько нулей с купюр будут убирать, тоже пока обсуждается, но предположительно - по два нуля, то есть, нынешние рубли становятся копейками а средняя зарплата, таким образом, будет в районе 200-300 рублей.

Рассмотрение любого дизайн проекта, посвященного государственным коммуникациям, следует разделить на две части — дизайн и образы, хотя обе эти части для конечного продукта неразделимы. Если дизайн денег может быть решен силами самих дизайнеров, как показывает дипломный проект Максима Родина1) 2005 года в Строгановке, а также более ранний проект «Новые деньги» галереи Марата Гельмана, то проблема образов остается одной из самых сложных, спорных и нерешенных проблем.
Исторически, наибольшим доверием всегда пользовались образы конкретных исторических деятелей и никакие абстрактные символы, пейзажи и виды страны и даже аллегорические изображения (например, очень удачная серия банкнот 1895—1898 г. г. с образами «России» или ранние советские экспериментальные образы 1920-х), как бы хорошо они не были выполнены, не могут заменить изображения людей. На образах людей основаны «достоверность» денег и они пользуются большим доверием, так как символизируют историческую и смысловую преемственность и стабильность.
В дореволюционной России проблемы образов не могло возникнуть; на банкноты помещались портреты царей и императоров (Дмитрий Донской, Михаил Федорович, Алексей Михайлович, на серии 1866—1886 г.г., Петр I и Екатерина II на серии 1898—1912 г.г., Николай I на серии 1899 г. Александр Третий на банкноте 1909 года). В советский период начиная с 30-х годов появляется самый устойчивый советский образ Ленина (червонцы 1937 года, серии 1947 и 1961 годов).
Сегодня, когда историческая преемственность прервана и политическая логика нарушена, становится совершенно непонятно какой образ ставить на деньги. Историческая хронология совершенно не соответствует политической; образы царей не могут соседствовать с генсеками, это же можно отнести даже к культурному пантеону… Какой же исторический и политический отрезок выбрать? И возможно ли вообще ограничиваться только одним периодом?
Создатели проекта «Новые деньги» предложили еще в 1996 году деньги с образами известных культурных деятелей и выдающихся людей (таких как А. Пушкин, Ф. Достоевский, Ю. Гагарин…) По такому принципу оформлены национальные валюты многих стран от французских франков до современных болгарских левов.
Единой смысловой и коммуникативной стратегии по отношению к госкоммуникациям нет, и хотя один из самых острых периодов в 90-е, когда старые образы обрушились, а новые еще не были созданы или были очень нестабильными, пройден, но общей позиции так и не выработано, а все предложения завязают в нерешенности этой проблемы.
В 90-е решение актуальных задач по новому дизайну денег, было найдено в виде нейтральных образов, частично использовавших визуальные элементы старых денег (хотя вскоре от них все более отдалявшихся). На банкнотах 1992—1993 годов активно эксплуатировался виды Кремля с нарочито подчеркнутом российским триколором, затем этот ряд сменили виды российских регионов (серия 1995—1997 г. г.), которая существует и по сей день.
Возможно, для переходного времени эти «пейзажные деньги» были, действительно, выходом, но сейчас такие нейтральные образы не отвечают смысловой повестке дня.
Дипломный проект Максима Родина в этом отношении не включается в выработку новых образов, хотя значительно модернизирует старые в плане визуального исполнения, оставляя виды федеральных округов на уровне топографии, избавляясь от изображений конкретных памятников на существующей серии. Характерный для выбранной территории пейзаж на одной стороне превращаются в графическую фактуру карты с другой.
Территория России здесь сама по себе становится главным образом, но является ли он достаточно осязаемым? Желание уйти от традиционных для банкнот решений — понятно, но оторваться от смысловых и исторических проблем невозможно. Эти, казалось бы, взаимоисключающие, но не решенные ни по отдельности ни в целом проблемы будут и дальше разрывать любой дизайн проект, связанный с государственными коммуникациями…
В отличие от смыслового и символического, графическое решение проекта Максима Родина достаточно сильно, чтобы стать достойным предметом для профессионального обсуждения, особенно на фоне существующей «ходячки» (о, этот ужасный «Адвер готик»!)…
Положительными сторонами проекта является восстановление традиционных денежных номиналов (1, 3, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 рублей), цветового кодирования (хотя по мысли автора цветовая гамма семи номиналов банкнот — символизирует количество округов), нашлось место и государственному гербу России, который отсутствует (!) на современных банкнотах. Проект говорит на языке современной стилистики, отсылающий к швейцарским франкам или евро.
Представители Гознака обычно говорят только о технологиях защиты денежных знаков (что естественно), но эстетическая сторона уходит на последнее место. И подобные проекты могут восполнить этот пробел и предложить массу находок, поэтому поощрение таких инициатив должно оставаться важной составляющей стратегии по развитию эффективных государственных коммуникаций.
Национальная валюта является по сути титульным элементом государственного символического набора, она формирует экономический имидж и образ государства в целом. Но здесь мы упираемся в непонимание важности визуальных коммуникаций у чиновников и управленцев, нежелание заключать своеобразный социальный контракт с дизайнерами, что демонстрирует хотя бы история со знаком рубля.
Таким образом, основной проблемой проектов по созданию новых денег России — является не дизайн (который приемлем и в рассмотренном дипломном проекте), а образы, которые не решены и системно не оформлены. Ситуация также подогревается практической необходимостью в комплексном ребрендинге Рубля.

Я попытался установить, откуда все это пошло. И установил. Причем еще месяца за три до эпизода с цветком и телевидением.
Букаф будет много.
На интернет-форумах и в Живом Журнале идет по нарастающей обсуждение якобы грядущей весной 2008 года деноминации с заменой купюр на другие, похожие на евро.
Я попробовал пройти по цепочке назад, чтобы понять, откуда это все появилось и когда.
Получилось примерно так:
В 2005 году Максимом Родиным была написана дипломная работа по дизайну денег. Картинки были тогда опубликованы в журнале «Designer» № 10/2005.
17.08.2007 вышла статья Деньги России, где изображения купюр, взятые из этого журнала, обсуждались исключительно с точки зрения дизайна. То же было и в комментариях к статье.
21 Ноября 2007 на блоге gvozdeff появился пост “О грядущей деноминации”, в котором “по секрету” сообщалось, что эти купюры - для грядущей деноминации. Комментарии к тому посту составили шесть страниц.
23 ноября 2007 со ссылкой на блог gvozdeff появилась публикация на Фишках под названием “О грядущей деноминации”
Тогда же зафиксирован резкий всплеск упоминаний в блогсфере:
После всплеска падение частоты упоминаний произошло не до начального уровня, а до уровня, в полтора-два раза большего и с этой точки пошел постепенный "разгон" информации.

Уважаемый gvozdeff рассказал о том, как ему удалось стать фактически родоначальником слуха о якобы грядущей деноминации в стране.
На мой взгляд, эта история отлично демонстрирует, как правильно вброшенная в блогосферу информация способна поднять волну такой силы, что первым лицам государства приходится объясняться по этому поводу перед журналистами ведущих телекомпаний и печатных изданий.
Вот, что сказал gvozdeff в ответ на мою просьбу прокомментировать ситуацию о том, что фактически он и сайт Fishki.net создал эту волну: "А если серьезно, то все случайно получилось. Решил приколоться, попросил друзей ссылки кинуть. Случайно в топ вышел. А потом лента.ру про это написала. И еще журнал 'Rolling Stone'. Так что, я сам еще механизма не понял. Видимо, дело в том, что тема людей очень интересует, а не в технологиях раскрутки."
Мой ответ уважаемому gvozdeff: "Вы правы в том, что тема попала на подготовленную почву. Точка оказалась настолько удачной, что при малейшем толчке вся система зашаталась. А сделать из этого технологию раскрутки - вопрос технический. Ведь всегда можно найти тему, которая волнует людей. или создать такую тему - в качестве подготовительного этапа.
Так что, похоже, Вы эту технологию раскрутки уже сделали. Пусть и ненамеренно

Ну что ж, в полном соответствии с правилами распространения дезинформации информации появился “рояль в кустах” - визуальный ряд. :
У меня, кстати, вызывают вопросы в этом визуальном ряду некие имеющие границы образования, выделенные цветом на обеих “купюрах”. Не подскажете, что это за государства/республики/области и почему их так выделили? Или это федеральные округа, надписанные на купюре?

И еще. Может быть. я чего-то не вижу, но я не могу найти на “купюрах” Калининградской области.
Смущает также отсутствие надписи “Образец”, но зато присутствие полноценных номеров на банкнотах. Не делают вбросов с настоящими номерами, т.к. вбросивший информацию может быть моментально “вычислен” и наказан.
