Substituting the remaining digits of the number in a special formula and making a calculation, experts compare its result with a check digit. If they match, the VIN is genuine. Marking may be arranged in one or two lines. But each section of the number can be placed only on one of them, it is impossible to break it, transferring the part to another line.
