The German government recommended that citizens not use the Mozilla Firefox browser. Earlier, another popular browser, Internet Explorer, fell into government disfavor.

Немецкое правительство порекомендовало своим гражданам воздержаться от использования браузера Mozilla Firefox, сообщает The Next Web. Такая рекомендация была сделана из соображений безопасности. Напомним, Mozilla смогла исправить критическую уязвимость в Windows-версии своего продукта только через месяц после того, как о ней было объявлено (информация PCWorld). Исправление сделано в бета-версии продукта, которая пока не протестирована.
Ранее немецкое же правительство выступало с аналогичной рекомендацией относительно браузера Internet Explorer. «За этой рекомендацией не стоит ничего рационального», - пояснил тогда Петр Диденко, бывший на тот момент сотрудником российского Microsoft.
В Mozilla придерживаются иного мнения. «Использование безопасного браузера является важной составляющей стратегии по повышению безопасности работы пользователей в Интернете и способствует уменьшению потенциальной угрозы, исходящей со стороны преступников, орудующих в Интернете. В этом свете рекомендация по использованию безопасного браузера ничем не отличается от рекомендации использования антивируса со свежими антивирусными базами и межсетевого экрана при работе в Интернете. Правительство вмешивается в этот вопрос, потому что Интернет стал важной составляющей общественной жизни, и убытки, возникающие по причине незащищенности пользователей в Интернете, довольно велики», - прокомментировал события координатор проекта Mozilla в России Александр Словесник.
Конечно, к рекомендациям немецкого правительства не следует относиться слишком серьезно: оно посоветовало отказаться от двух самых популярных браузеров, суммарно занимающих 85% рынка по данным Net Applications. Однако какой-то эффект эти обращения возыметь могут: европейские пользователи, обновляющие компьютер, стоят перед выбором браузера - при установке Windows 7 в Европе необходимо самостоятельно принять решение, какой браузер использовать. И возможно, делая выбор, пользователи вспомнят, что правительственные чиновники говорили им: Mozilla Firefox и Internet Explorer - не лучший выбор. Тем лучше для Safari, Google Chrome и Opera.
