German Ministry of Finance lost 55.5 billion euros due to an error in the calculations
Debt / GDP ratio (debt to GDP ratio) of Germany in 2011 will decrease by 2.6 percentage points and amount to 81.1 percentage points.
This forecast figure was the result of the correction of errors in the calculations, which allowed financiers to find at their disposal previously unaccounted for 55.5 billion euros, reports Reuters.
"Apparently, some of the figures were entered into the settlement system twice," the representative of the country's finance ministry commented on the error, adding that the circumstances of the incident have yet to be studied.
The country's government responded with satisfaction to the discovery of a mistake that would reduce the country's debt / GDP ratio, which is higher than that allowed by the Maastricht agreements (legally established euro-zone standards) of 60% of GDP.
However, representatives of the opposition Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) expressed bewilderment at the scale of the miscalculation and blamed it on the current government.
"This is not the money that a prudent landlady can hide in a stocking, and then completely forget about their existence," complained Thomas Opperman, parliamentary secretary of the SPD faction. "To allow such a confusion in numbers is simply the height of irresponsibility."

Коэффициент "долг/ВВП" (отношение долга к ВВП) Германии по итогам 2011г. снизится на 2,6 процентного пункта и составит 81,1 процентного пункта.

Однако представители оппозиционной Социал-демократической партии Германии (СДПГ) выразили недоумение масштабом просчета и возложили ответственность за него на действующее правительство.
