The German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) destroyed about 250 valuable historical documents in 2007, reports dpa. They contained information about employees of the department who held high posts under the Nazis. This was announced on Tuesday, November 30, the historical commission, which deals with the history of German foreign intelligence.
At the same time, the representative of the commission, Professor Klaus-Dietmar Henke (Klaus-Dietmar Henke) emphasized that this was not done on purpose. The BND confirmed that the documents were indeed destroyed and explained that they simply did not appreciate their importance for the archive. Now the department is trying to recover the lost information as much as possible.
Among the lost documents were cases of foreign intelligence workers who had previously served in the SS or the Gestapo, and were later convicted of Nazi crimes. In addition, the documents of some intelligence officers were lost, for which internal investigations were carried out regarding their Nazi past.
The Historical Commission is investigating the early stage of the BND - the period from 1945 to 1968, when many former Nazis turned up in intelligence.

Об этом объявила во вторник, 30 ноября, историческая комиссия, которая занимается историей немецкой внешней разведки.
При этом представитель комиссии, профессор Клаус-Дитмар Хенке (Klaus-Dietmar Henke) подчеркнул, что это было сделано не специально. В BND подтвердили, что документы, действительно, были уничтожены и объяснили, что просто не оценили их важность для архива. Сейчас в ведомстве пытаются восстановить утерянную информацию, насколько это возможно.
Среди потерянных документов были дела работников внешней разведки, которые до этого служили в SS или гестапо, а позднее были судимы за нацистские преступления. Кроме того, потеряны документы некоторых сотрудников разведки, в отношении которых проводились внутренние расследования по поводу их нацистского прошлого.
