US will continue to spy on Iran with UAV
US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta announced that the program for tracking Iran using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) "absolutely accurately" will continue, writes "Yediot Aharonot."

At the same time, Panetta did not say what exactly happened with the lost UAV, refusing to answer the question about the Iranian capabilities to intercept control of such an apparatus.
As previously reported, the Iranians announced that with the help of electronic warfare measures they were able to take control of the drone that invaded the airspace of their country, and then safely land it. The US insists that the drone was lost as a result of a malfunction on its board.
RQ-170 Sentinel is one of the most advanced devices for reconnaissance over foreign territory. It is equipped with the latest developments in the field of optics, electronics and computer software. In addition, the drone is made of materials that make it almost invisible to radar.
Iran refused to return the U.S. device, declared it its property and promised to use the technical achievements extracted from the RQ-170 Sentinel to create its own version of an unmanned aerial vehicle. Tehran also did not rule out that some technologies would be transferred to the disposal of Russia and China.
The US authorities do not report what exactly drones like the RQ-170 Sentinel are looking for in Iran, but experts agree that the CIA and the Pentagon are mainly interested in nuclear facilities, military bases and the country's air defense system.

Министр обороны США Леон Панетта объявил, что программа слежения за Ираном при помощи беспилотных летательных аппаратов (БПЛА) "совершенно точно" будет продолжена, пишет "Едиот Ахронот".
По его словам, этому не помешает даже потеря суперсекретного дрона RQ-170 Sentinel, который по неустановленным причинам оказался в руках иранцев.
"Эти полеты необходимо сохранить, чтобы не подвергать опасности невыполнения задачи, на которые они нацелены", - сказал министр, не уточнив, что за задачи имеются в виду.
При этом Панетта не стал говорить, что именно произошло с потерянным БПЛА, отказавшись отвечать на вопрос об иранских возможностях перехвата управления таким аппаратом.
Как сообщалось ранее, иранцы объявили, что при помощи мер радиоэлектронной борьбы сумели перехватить управление беспилотником, вторгшимся в воздушное пространство их страны, а затем - безопасно посадить его. США настаивают, что дрон был потерян в результате неисправности на его борту.
RQ-170 Sentinel является одним из наиболее совершенных устройств для проведения разведки над чужой территорией. Он оснащен последними разработками в области оптики, радиоэлектроники и компьютерного обеспечения. Кроме того, беспилотник сделан из материалов, позволяющих сделать его почти невидимым для радаров.
