Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs E. Poluden detained in Belarus
At the end of last week, law enforcement authorities of Belarus detained the deputy minister of internal affairs - the head of the public security police Yevgeny Poludnya. The information and public relations department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus and the information and public relations center of the State Security Committee (KGB) left this information without comment, however, the opposition media found confirmation in the republic’s law enforcement agencies.
According to unofficial data, E.P. is accused of exceeding official powers. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus was directly involved in the investigation of the case against E. Noon. In the near future, the supervisory authority intends to make an official statement on this matter.
E. Noon appointed to the post of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs in August 2009 Previously, he worked as the deputy chief of the public security militia of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee. E. Noon personally took part in the dispersal of protests in Minsk throughout 2011.
It should be noted that recently reports have been regularly coming from Belarus about the detention of influential officials and businessmen. So, in early November 2011 Gleb Bedritsky, head of the secretariat of the upper house of the Belarusian parliament, was detained for financial fraud. Also in November, the arrest of one of the most influential businessmen of Belarus Viktor Shevtsov was reported. There have been no official reports on these detentions yet.
The “purges” in the law enforcement bodies of Belarus take place regularly and are usually confined to significant political events, for example, presidential elections or terrorist attacks. Explosion during the celebration of Independence Day in Minsk in 2008. became the reason for the resignation of Secretary of State for the Security Council Viktor Sheiman. This resignation allegedly allowed the head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, to complete the rotation of the personnel of the special services in order to avoid the nomenclature coup, which was discussed in 2008. В Белоруссии задержан замминистра МВД Е.Полудень
В конце прошлой недели правоохранительные органы Белоруссии задержали заместителя министра внутренних дел - начальника милиции общественной безопасности Евгения Полудня. В управлении информации и общественных связей МВД Белоруссии и центре информации и общественных связей Комитета государственной безопасности (КГБ) данную информацию оставили без комментариев, однако оппозиционные СМИ нашли подтверждение в силовых ведомствах республики.
По неофициальным данным, Е.Полудню инкриминируют превышение служебных полномочий. Расследованием дела против Е.Полудня занялась непосредственно Генеральная прокуратура Белоруссии. В ближайшее время надзорное ведомство намерено сделать по этому поводу официальное заявление.
Е.Полудень назначен на должность замминистра внутренних дел в августе 2009г. Ранее он работал заместителем начальника милиции общественной безопасности ГУВД Мингорисполкома. Е.Полудень лично принимал участие в разгонах акций протеста в Минске на протяжении 2011г.
