In the United States, a technology has been developed that determines where the user goes, how much he will stay there and with whom he is most likely to meet.
The Jyotish system, named after Hindu astrology, was created by the Boeing Research Center at the University of Illinois at Urban and Champaign.
The principle of its operation is based on tracking the path of people by monitoring their connections to wireless networks, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Since the range of these networks is 10 and 100 m, respectively, you can very accurately determine the location of the user. And knowing in what places the person was, you can predict where he will be after a certain period of time.
Initially, Jyotish was supposed to be used only to control the movement of personnel in the factories of the aircraft giant. However, the developers decided that a full-fledged social network could grow out of it: its participants would find out where their potential friends with similar interests could be. Project manager Long Wu says that Jyotish is able to make recommendations about the venue for a particular group of people.
Researchers conducted an experiment by distributing smartphones to 79 volunteers that could be tracked when connected to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Several months of using Jyotish have confirmed its predictive capabilities. So the only obstacle to the introduction of this kind of social network may be concerns about an invasion of privacy.

А зная, в каких местах был человек, можно спрогнозировать, где он будет находиться через определённый промежуток времени.
Изначально Jyotish предполагалось использовать лишь для того, чтобы контролировать перемещения персонала на заводах авиастроительного гиганта. Однако разработчики решили, что из неё может вырасти полноценная социальная сеть: её участники будут узнавать, где могли бы находиться их потенциальные друзья со схожими интересами.
