The investigators found out that the administration of the resource was headed by a citizen of Latvia. At the moment, 16 employees of the company’s office are being questioned, and the seized equipment is sent for examination. How many people will be held accountable - not yet reported. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment of up to 5 years with confiscation of copies of works and equipment. "

Официальный сайт Министерства внутренних дел прекратил работу вскоре после того, как ведомство закрыло файлообменник EX.UA.

Поводом к возбуждению уголовного дела по ч. 2 ст. 176 Уголовного кодекса Украины, предусматривающей ответственность за нарушение авторского права и смежных прав, послужили обращения, поступившие в Министерство внутренних дел Украины от официальных представителей ведущих мировых производителей программного обеспечения – международных корпораций «Adobe Systems Inc.», «Microsoft Corporation», «Graphisoft Inc.» и т.д., программные продукты которых уже долгое время незаконно распространялись через веб-сайт ЕХ.UA.
Во время оперативного сопровождения уголовного дела установлено, что администрация указанного веб-сайта вопреки законным требованиям правообладателей и положениям Закона Украины «Об авторском праве и смежных правах» обеспечивала масштабное распространение на территории государства и за его пределами противоправного контента – сотен тысяч наименований аудиовизуальных произведений, фонограмм, видеограмм и компьютерных программ.
Оперативники выяснили, что администрацию ресурса возглавлял гражданин Латвии. В данный момент 16 работников офиса компании допрашиваются, а изъятая техника направлена на экспертизу. Сколько человек будет привлечено к ответственности - пока не сообщается. Санкция статьи предусматривает лишение свободы сроком до 5 лет с конфискацией экземпляров произведений и оборудования."
