In the Abkhaz city of Gagra, the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic Almazbey Kchach shot himself, Interfax reports. He committed suicide when law enforcement officers came to arrest him on suspicion of involvement in the assassination attempt on the president.
“Kchach, seeing law enforcement officers, locked himself in his own house. After the operative officers were able to enter the house through the window, they found the body on the bed with a gun in his hand. Kchach shot himself,” said the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Abkhazia.
According to the agency, the former minister was suspected of being one of the organizers of the assassination attempt on President Alexander Ankvab.
The pro-Georgian publication Our Abkhazia, in turn, reported that rumors about the upcoming arrest of Kchach went on within a week. However, he did not try to leave Abkhazia.
The publication gives the following picture of what happened. "Special forces in masks surrounded the ex-minister’s cottage, broke down the iron front door. Realizing that his house was being taken by storm, Kchach shot himself with a pistol in the head," Our Abkhazia claims.

В абхазском городе Гагра застрелился бывший глава МВД республики Алмазбей Кчач, сообщает "Интерфакс". Он покончил с собой, когда сотрудники правоохранительных органов пришли арестовать его по подозрению в причастности к покушению на президента.
"Кчач, увидев сотрудников правоохранительных органов, заперся в собственном доме. После того, как оперативные сотрудники смогли проникнуть в дом через окно, они обнаружили тело на кровати с пистолетом в руке. Кчач застрелился", - рассказал представитель МВД Абхазии.
По информации агентства, бывшего министра подозревали в том, что он был одним из организаторов покушения на президента Александра Анкваба.
Прогрузинское издание "Наша Абхазия", в свою очередь, сообщило, что слухи о предстоящем аресте Кчача ходили в течение недели. Однако покинуть Абхазию он не пытался.
Издание дает следующую картину произошедшего. "Спецназовцы в масках окружили коттедж экс-министра, выломали железную входную дверь. Поняв, что его дом берут штурмом, Кчач выстрелил себе из пистолета в голову", - утверждает "Наша Абхазия".
