Opera Software offers everyone to try hacking the Opera browser at the Hack2own competition, which will be held in Moscow on May 30 and 31. The competition will consist of three stages. For hacking a web browser in the first one, you can get 137 thousand Russian rubles (about $ 4.3 thousand). The reward for victory in the second round will be 75 137 rubles ($ 2360), in the third - 50 137 rubles ($ 1580).


At the first stage of the competition, participants will try to exploit vulnerabilities in stable versions of the popular browsers Google Chrome 19.0.1084, Opera 11.64, Mozilla Firefox 12 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 9. In the second round, you can try your hand at earlier versions of web browsers (Chrome 16 / 17/18/19, Opera 11.64 / 11.60, Mozilla Firefox 10/11/12, Microsoft Internet Explorer 8/9 and Apple Safari 5.0 / 5.1.1 / 5.1.2). At the third stage, the latest versions of typical third-party components for browsers are allowed to operate: Adobe Flash Player (11.2.202.235), Adobe Reader (10.1.3), Java (7 update 4).

Opera Software noted that previously the organizers of such contests did not consider Opera as an object of hacking, but now this misunderstanding has been fixed.
