On May 7, 1992, the President of Kazakhstan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree on the creation of a national armed forces.
Assigning regular military ranks on the eve of the holiday and presenting awards to distinguished servicemen has become a tradition.
On October 4, 2012, the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed amendments to the Law "On Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan", in accordance with the document, May 7 was declared a public holiday and a day off.
The first Armed Forces Combat Parade in the history of the Republic will be held on May 7, 2013. The main difference between the Combat Parade and traditional military parades will be the opportunity to demonstrate the professional skills of Kazakhstani fighters, the real use of modern weapons and military equipment used by the Kazakh army.
In total, more than 7 thousand military personnel, over 400 units of military equipment, more than 80 aircraft and helicopters take part in the combat parade. During the Battle Parade, a demonstration of new and modernized models of military equipment, weapons and communications made by the enterprises of the Kazakhstani military-industrial complex, which are part of the National Engineering Kazakhstan Engineering JSC, will take place.
The parade is commanded by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, cavalier of the orders "Danқ", "Aybyn" and "For the Service to the Homeland", Lieutenant General Murat Maikeyev.

7 мая 1992 года президент Казахстана, верховный главнокомандующий Нурсултан Назарбаев подписал указ о создании национальных вооруженных сил.
Присвоение в канун праздника очередных воинских званий и вручение наград отличившимся военнослужащим стало традицией.
4 октября 2012 года Парламент Республики Казахстан подписал дополнения в Закон «О праздниках в Республике Казахстан», в соответствии с документом 7 мая объявлен государственным праздником и выходным днём.
7 мая 2013 года пройдет первый в истории республики Боевому параду Вооруженных Сил.Главным отличием Боевого парада от традиционных военных парадов станет возможность наглядно продемонстрировать профессиональное мастерство казахстанских бойцов, реальное применение современного оружия и военной техники, используемые казахстанской армией.
Всего в Боевом параде принимают участие более 7 тысяч военнослужащих, свыше 400 единиц военной техники, более 80 самолетов и вертолетов. В ходе проведения Боевого парада состоится показ новых и модернизируемых образцов военной техники, вооружения и средств связи, производимых предприятиями казахстанского оборонно-промышленного комплекса, входящими в состав АО «Национальная компания «Казахстан инжиниринг».
Командует парадом главнокомандующий Сухопутными войсками ВС РК кавалер орденов «Данқ», «Айбын» и «За службу Родине» генерал-лейтенант Мурат Майкеев.
