Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have closed a large file-sharing service ex.ua
According to representatives of law enforcement agencies, the head of ex.ua is a citizen of Latvia.
According to the Ukrainian Truth resource, citing the words of the head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Sergey Burlakov, the largest Ukrainian file-sharing service ex.ua was closed on January 31, 2012 for violation of copyright and related rights .
Law enforcement agencies of Ukraine are currently conducting a criminal investigation under Part 2 of Art. 176 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Note that the investigation has been going on for six months now, and it was initiated by such international companies as Adobe Systems Inc., Microsoft Corporation, and Graphisoft Inc.
Burlakov noted that a search “authorized by the court” was carried out in the office premises, as well as ex.ua data centers. As a result of the search, a large number of computer and network equipment were seized, one hundred servers on which more than 600 terabytes of content were stored.
During the investigation, it was found that the head of ex.ua is a citizen of Latvia.
“Now 16 employees of the company's office are being questioned, and the seized equipment is sent for examination. How many people will be held accountable in the framework of the investigation of this criminal case will become clear after the necessary investigative and procedural actions, ”the law enforcement press service said in a statement.
The punishment for the offense imputed to ex.ua management is provided for in the form of 5 years in prison with confiscation of copies of works and related equipment.

Украинские правоохранительные органы закрыли крупный файлообменный сервис ex.ua
По словам представителей правоохранительных органов, руководителем ex.ua является гражданин Латвии.
Как сообщает ресурс «Украинская правда» со ссылкой на слова руководителя пресс-службы МВД Украины Сергея Бурлакова, 31 января 2012 года был закрыт крупнейший украинский файлообменный сервис ex.ua за нарушение авторских и смежных прав.
Правоохранительные органы Украины на данный момент проводят расследование уголовного дела по ч.2 ст. 176 Уголовного кодекса Украины. Отметим, что расследование длится уже на протяжении полугода, а его инициаторами выступили такие международные компании, как "Adobe Systems Inc.", "Microsoft Corporation", "Graphisoft Inc.".
Бурлаков отметил, что в офисном помещении, а также дата-центрах ex.ua был проведен «санкционированный судом» обыск. В результате обыска было изъято большое количество компьютерной и сетевой техники, сто серверов, на которых хранилось более 600 терабайт контента.
В ходе следственных действий было обнаружено, что руководителем ex.ua является гражданин Латвии.
«Сейчас 16 работников офиса компании допрашиваются, а изъятая техника направлена на экспертизу. Сколько человек будут привлечены к ответственности в рамках расследования этого уголовного дела, станет ясно после проведения необходимых следственных и процессуальных действий», - сообщается в сообщении пресс-службы правоохранительных органов.
Наказание за вменяемое руководству ex.ua преступление предусмотрено в виде 5 лет тюремного заключения с конфискацией экземпляров произведений и соответственной техники.
