Law enforcement agencies in Dagestan discovered and seized computer equipment worth half a billion rubles, involved in the illegal activities of a network of crypto farms. This was reported on Thursday in the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the republic.
"Officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the republic, as part of measures to decriminalize the electric power industry, stopped the illegal activities of a network of crypto farms that illegally operated on the territory of Makhachkala and the Kizlyar region, in the villages of Kulzeb and Novoe Gadari, Kizilyurt region. As a result of operational-search activities 4,343 units of computer equipment worth more than 500 million rubles were found and confiscated. According to experts, the total amount of power of illegally consumed electricity was about 8 megawatts per hour.
Illegal crypto farms lead to a critical increase in the load on the republic's power grid and cause frequent emergency power outages for the population, the FSB noted.
In the branch of PJSC "Rosseti North Caucasus" - "Dagenergo" calculate the amount of material damage caused to the state-owned company.

МАХАЧКАЛА, 20 января. /ТАСС/. Правоохранительные органы в Дагестане обнаружили и изъяли компьютерную технику на полмиллиарда рублей, вовлеченную в противоправную деятельность сети криптоферм. Об этом в четверг сообщили в пресс-службе УФСБ России по республике.
"Сотрудниками УФСБ России по Республике Дагестан во взаимодействии с МВД по республике в рамках мероприятий по декриминализации электроэнергетической отрасли пресечена противоправная деятельность сети криптоферм, незаконно действовавших на территории Махачкалы и Кизлярского района, в селах Кульзеб и Новое Гадари Кизилюртовского района. В результате оперативно-разыскных мероприятий обнаружено и изъято 4 343 единицы компьютерной техники стоимостью более 500 млн рублей. По оценке специалистов, общий объем мощности незаконно потребленной электроэнергии составлял около 8 мегаватт в час",- говорится в сообщении.
Незаконные криптофермы приводят к критическому повышению нагрузки на электросетевое хозяйство республики и вызывают частые аварийные отключения электроснабжения населения, отметили в УФСБ.
В филиале ПАО "Россети Северный Кавказ" - "Дагэнерго" производят расчет суммы материального ущерба, нанесенного госкомпании.
