According to the official version, recidivist Yuri Grigoryev, who was on the federal wanted list, was throwing grenades. The police identified the offender. Sobr detachment set off to take Yuri Grigoriev. When the police began to storm the apartment, the offender resisted. First he started firing a pistol, and then threw a grenade. The operatives retreated to the landing. Then Grigoryev threw three more grenades. They all exploded. But SOBR employees were saved by shields.

В самый разгар рабочего дня в Самаре произошло громкое ЧП. "Комсомолке" сообщили, в доме 53 по улице Среднесадовая мужчина бросает во двор гранаты.
Все произошло в обычной четырехэтажке-хрущевке около 4 часов дня. Услышав взрывы, жители окрестных домов вышли на улицу. Жильцы дома вспоминают: утром "той самой" 39 квартирой интерсовался мужчина с красными корочками:
- Расспрашивал, не живет ли там коренастый мужик с бородкой, - рассказывают люди. - А как скажешь наверняка, если хозяин квартиру сдает? В последнее время там вроде водители какие-то жили...
Тревогу из-за взрывов подняли продавцы продуктового магазина, располагающегося на пересечении улиц Среднесадовая и Вольская.
Жители соседних домов тоже слышали взрывы. Кто два, кто три. Вот только были ли это взрывы гранат - большой вопрос. В подъезде, впрочем, как и в "плохой" квартире на 2 этаже, выбиты стекла, но следов взрыва нет. Вокруг дома и в подъезде, кроме осколков стекла, никаких разрушений не видно.
По официальной версии, гранатами швырялся рецидивист Юрий Григорьев, который находился в федеральном розыске. Полицейские вычислили преступника. Брать Юрия Григорьева отправился отряд СОБРа. Когда полицейские приступили к штурму квартиры, преступник оказал сопротивление. Сначала начал стрелять из пистолета, а затем бросил гранату. Оперативники отступили к лестничной площадке. Тогда Григорьев бросил еще три гранаты. Все они взорвались. Но сотрудников СОБРа спасли щиты.
- Мы знали, что Юрий Григорьев будет оказывать сопротивление. Живым он сдаваться не собиралися, - прокомментировал глава ГУВД Самарской области Юрий Стерликов. - Преступник был ликвидирован после повторного штурма квартиры.
Бойцы СОБРа открыли по Юрию Григорьеву огонь на поражение. В итоге преступник был убит. Но не обошлось и без пострадавших со стороны полицейских. Один из бойцов СОБРа получил осколочное ранение ноги и контузию.
Юрий Григорьев оказался первым матерым киллером, которого сумели задержать, причем по глупости. Дело было в ноябре 1997 года. Около семи часов вечера Григорьев был задержан ППС-никами буквально сразу после совершения преступления.
Разыгралась вся история на улице Полевой, в районе больницы имени Пирогова. Тогда в автомобиле Нисан были застрелены два хорошо известных в криминальном мире представителя Новокуйбышевска – Евгений Лисин и Марат Баганов. По слухам, они приехали к дому № 88 по Полевой «на стрелку». Стрелял в них Григорьев более 10 раз из пистолета с глушителем. Выполнив работу, киллер спокойно отправился вниз по улице Полевой. И чем-то заинтересовал патрулирующих улицу сотрудников милиции.
Уходя от преследования, он свернул на территорию «Пироговки» и попытался выстрелить в милиционеров. Но киллера подвел заклинивший патрон. Поговаривают, он пользовался «пижонским» парабеллумом.
Результат - громкое задержание, потом расследование, за которым, затаив дыхание, следила половина Самары и не менее громкий суд, который 29 июня 1998 года отправил киллера за решетку в Белогородскую область мотать 20-летний срок.
Но 4 декабря 2011 года Григорьев умудрился бежать из колонии №4. Его объявили в федеральный розыск. Некотрое время о нем ничего не было слышно, пока оперативники не выяснили: преступник снимает квартиру в доме №53 по улице Средне-Садовая, представляясь чужим именем.
Через 3 часа после ЧП очевидцы были опрошены, квартиру и подъезд осмотрели минеры, оцепление снято. Жители развороченного подъезда вернулись в квартиры. Теперь их волнует одно: не придется ли остаток зимы провести в выстуженных квартираах. На дворе мороз, а в подъезде нет ни одного целого окна.
