Concerned with HUGE RESPECT for the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War (my grandfather commanded intelligence and died in Belarus) and personally for Alexei Batyan, nevertheless, he must point out the following points:
The prototype of "Major Whirlwind" (Y. Semenov), the commander of the reconnaissance group "Voice", the man who saved Krakow from complete destruction
is not A. Batyan, but Evgeny Stepanovich Bereznyak. Moreover, A. Batyan was not part of the reconnaissance group.

As evidenced by many facts: this is Poland’s highest military award “Vertuti Military” and a gold watch “from the President of Russia” (V. Putin) and Government congratulatory telegrams and the title of Honorary Citizen of Krakow and much more. I saw all this with my own eyes.
It remains only to regret that veterans, honored people, become toys in the political games of various departments ...
By the way February 24, 2012 Major Whirlwind - Eugene Stepanovich Bereznyak turned 98 years old!

I’m sure: both the personalities of the heroes and their exploits during the war, and even all their behavior in peacetime, which, despite the merits finally recognized (by the leadership of different countries by that time), can be an example of natural modesty for all of us - truly help to unite, but not to divide, once - during the years of severe trials, the united people of Russia, Ukraine and all fraternal republics of the former Soviet Union!

Уверен: и личности героев, и их подвиги во время войны, и даже все их поведение в мирное время, которое, не смотря на признанные в конце концов (руководством уже к тому времени разных стран) заслуги, может являться для всех нас образцом природной скромности - истинно помогают объединить, но никак не разобщить, когда-то - в годы суровых испытаний, единый народ России, Украины и всех братских республик бывшего Советского Союза!
