How we are deceived in stores
Nowadays, cheating in stores (and not only there) is quite common.
Such cases have happened to me many times. The most common fraud that I have encountered is when they surrender less than they should. In second place is weighting, that is, when you paid for one kilogram of apples, but in fact they weighed 800 g. In this case, as a rule, tighten the scales so that they show a greater value than it actually is.

How to protect yourself from such deception?
First, you need to be guided by the expression: "You trust, but verify!".
Secondly, it is advisable to know HOW you can be deceived. With this knowledge, you can prevent cheating in the bud:
1. Double label.
Usually found when buying household chemicals. On the packaging of the product, which has expired, stick a new label with a later date of manufacture, and, as a result, the shelf life is extended. Often a new label is glued directly on top of the old one. Therefore, when buying, inspect the product from all sides and pay attention to where in the product and how the expiration date is indicated. If you still bought such a product, but you still have a check, take the purchased product back to where you bought it. There you must return the money or exchange for goods of good quality.
2. Double price.
It is found in large self-service stores. The meaning of this fraud is that the price is indicated on one price, and when you go to the cashier to pay, it turns out that it costs more. Shop workers explain this phenomenon by the fact that they simply do not have time to change the price tags. Naturally, this is a clear violation, because, according to the public contract of sale, the buyer has the right to receive the goods at the price that is written on it. Simply put, the seller is obliged to transfer the goods on those conditions that are indicated on the price tag.
3. Superfluous goods.
It is found in supermarkets. When you buy several units of one product, you may be "accidentally" struck in the check, for example, not three chocolates, but five.
Or the name of a product that you haven’t seen in your eyes may appear on your check. Sometimes, cashiers put a sheet with the code of a product near the cashier, and while the buyer dismantles his mountain of products, the cashier imperceptibly for the buyer passes the scanner along this sheet. This is especially “rolling” when the buyer leaves a large amount in the store (for example, three thousand rubles). And if you weren’t too lazy, looked at the check and found there excess goods, then to your indignation the cashier usually says that there was a failure in the computer program, so information about the purchase of goods of the previous buyer was copied to your check.
In any case, if you find goods that you didn’t buy in the check, this problem can be resolved only without leaving the cash register. If you find a fraud already at home - it is unlikely that you will be refunded. Most likely, you will be accused of fraud. So be careful not to pay for what is not in your grocery basket! And check the check without leaving the cash desk!
4. Double payment of one product.
When you come to the cashier to pay for purchases, carefully monitor how the cashier breaks through your goods. Sometimes cashiers pierce the same product several times. Quite often this happens when you have many products. Therefore, check the check without leaving the cash register. If you notice a “superfluous” name, then you have every right to demand a refund or provide the goods you paid for.
5. Substitution of product codes.
This type of deception consists in the fact that the scanner usually reads the barcode of the product, but sometimes the cashier drives it with his hands. This is where this fraud manifests itself: the cashier can enter a code for a more expensive product than it actually is. For example, instead of a chocolate code for 20 rubles, you can get a chocolate code for 100 rubles. Therefore, be careful!
6. Automatic increase in the price of goods.
This phenomenon manifests itself when you buy a lot of products at the supermarket. In the program with which the barcode of the product is scanned, the task is laid down in advance so that when a large amount is collected (for example, from 500 rubles or more), the price of the next product increases automatically. Accordingly, the larger the purchase (or more items), the more extra money will be taken from you! That is, the more you take, the greater the difference.
7. Purchase without a check.
Sometimes, if the seller sees that the buyer is in a hurry, he deliberately slowly stacks the goods, and then says that due to technical problems, he will have to wait 10 minutes to receive the check. In this case, the buyer waves his hand, asks to name the amount, pays it, and leaves. And the seller stays with a “tip”. Or, sometimes, they simply don’t give a check to the impudent, they say, they forgot, or even they don’t write to them at all.
8. Not broken goods.
Sometimes, the cashier (supposedly did not notice) does not break through the goods laid out on the tape, and at the exit from the store an alarm is triggered for you. The guards begin to scare you with the police if you do not pay for this product in double (triple) size. And to prove to them that you had no intention of stealing anything in your thoughts is useless, since the guards agree in advance with the cashier about such a “trick”. Many fall into this trap, and in order to protect themselves from problems with the police, they pay deceivers.
If this happened to you (God forbid, of course!), Then know: the security has no right to search you and your belongings, it can only detain you until the arrival of a law enforcement officer. Therefore, if your conscience is clear, call the police. It is the officer of this law enforcement agency who must draw up the protocol and collect evidence.
9. Promotions and discounts on goods.
On the contrary to any product is a price tag with the inscription "Promotion", they say, only today you can buy a package of milk not for 30 rubles, but for 23 with a penny. In fact, there is no action, this is just another tricky move so that people buy goods, prices usually remain the same. And sometimes, before holding such an action, for example, a week before it, the prices of a certain group of goods rise sharply, and when the action is announced, the previous price is written. And it turns out that there are no discounts at all.
10. Purchase + gift.
Now, promotions are often held, such as: "Buy a TV - get a second for free!". In fact, this is also a hoax. Only cheese in a mousetrap can be free. And here you will pay for BOTH things, with the only difference being that the price will be indicated only for one (but as for two). And you will consider that you really bought only one thing, and presented the second to you. That is, all these prizes, gifts, bonuses are already included in the purchase price and cover the cost of the store for them.
11. Distracting maneuver.
It occurs quite often. Imagine this picture: you are buying some kind of product, handing a cashier a note, say, 100 rubles. Then the cashier exclaims: “Oh, I see that you have a discount card, you have a discount!”. You give her a card, she twirls it in her hands, then returns with the words: “No! It’s not that! ”And reaches for money. You answered her: “I gave you money!”, Cashier: “No, they didn’t! I don’t have them! ”, And in confirmation of his words, he shows you a cash register with money, which is full of identical notes. Naturally, it will be difficult for you to recognize "your". As a rule, in this situation, the buyer remains stupid, because most people will not argue, because if there are no witnesses, you still can not prove your case.
12. Cheating with food.
Here you can talk endlessly. But I will list the most common ways to cheat in this area:
* As a rule, goods previously brought in are placed on shelves with the edge, but fresh products are just at the far wall. This is especially true for sour-milk and bakery products.
* Fruits and vegetables, packaged and weighed in advance, usually weigh less than the specified mass, and are, respectively, more expensive. How to check it? In stores there should be a control scale, where each buyer can independently weigh the purchase.
* Spoiled food, sometimes packaged in food foil, and defects masked by bright stickers.
13. Weighing.
Here are a lot of tricks:
* When you will be weighing something, pay attention to the scales - zeros should burn on them.
* In order for the buyer not to notice that the scales are “set” to 30-50 g, a weight is left on the counterweight, and when the product is weighed, it is not removed. Or it is removed only after the product is put on the scales.
* Also, when hanging, wrapping paper is used, folded in several layers, which is placed on the counterweight.
* Perhaps, when buying vegetables and fruits, you met sellers with pointer scales. Here, for weighting, they come up with the following: they turn over a large cup of scales (they say, it’s more convenient to weigh). The cup itself has sides on the back and a wire limiter. So, when weighing the goods, a potato or an onion is hung on a paper clip from this wire limiter. Thus, they can weigh you up to 50-100 g. Or you can tie a thread behind this wire limiter, which they hide under the counter and pull it when weighing the goods. This method is weighed for 30-100 g.
* The most common method is a light weight, usually 500 or 1000 g. That is, you probably paid attention to how several weights are put on a counterweight when weighing a product, this is one of these weights and can be light.
And, lastly, a few useful tips:
1. Most often they cheat on Fridays and Saturdays (this pattern was revealed by one woman who has worked in the trade for more than 20 years) - this is especially evident in the evening, when people are tired or “on the merry,” plus all in all. Therefore, during this period, the more you need to check the check. Sellers are well aware that, for example, it is easier to calculate a woman with a crying child than a retired grandmother, who is very attentive to the purchase of goods.
2. Young people should be extremely careful when visiting supermarkets. Cashiers sometimes like to "breed" them: they begin to "build their eyes" and chat. And at the same time they’re cheating. And the man, after talking with such a cute cashier, is unlikely to check the check. And if he checks, then the cashiers will get away with everything, they say, he’s to blame himself, distracted the girl, so she was mistaken.
