Primorsky officer of the internal troops posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia
By presidential decree of January 9, 2012, for the personal courage, bravery and heroism shown in the performance of military duty in conditions that pose a risk to life, Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Maslov, the chief of staff of the special forces unit "Typhoon" of the Eastern Regional Command of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumously).
From June to August 2011, Maslov repeatedly participated in special operations to search for and eliminate armed gangs in Dagestan. On August 17, detachment units searched for an armed bandit group in the Khasavyurt district. After its discovery, a battle ensued, during which the bandits tried to break through the combat formations of the special forces. Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Maslov correctly assessed the situation and, in order to prevent the militants from escaping the persecution, introduced a reserve into the battle, which he himself headed.
The idea of the bandits was disrupted and they, taking a favorable position and hiding behind the folds of the terrain, transferred all the firepower to the reserve approaching them. Under these difficult conditions, Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Maslov acted professionally and decisively, showing the best qualities of a special forces officer of the internal troops.
Performing distracting maneuvers and firing at militants, he gave his subordinates the opportunity to escape from a flank attack and, after regrouping, re-engage in battle. Covering his comrades, Ivan Maslov was seriously wounded, but continued to fire and control the actions of the unit. Unfortunately, the wound turned out to be incompatible with life, and the officer died on the battlefield, fully fulfilling his military duty.
Thanks to the courage and heroism of Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Maslov, the death of special forces troops participating in the battle was prevented, and the bandit group was neutralized. As a result of a special operation, six active members of the gang underground were destroyed, a well-disguised, multi-level underground base of militants, small arms, ammunition, communications equipment and documents exposing the bandits in terrorist activities were discovered.
Ivan Maslov was born in the village of Uglovoye in 1978. After graduating from the Far Eastern Higher Command School in 2000, he served in various positions in the military unit of the internal troops in Vladivostok. In 2009, he was transferred to further service in the special forces detachment of the internal troops "Typhoon" in Khabarovsk.
He was buried in the village of Yaroslavsky of the Primorsky Territory in his wife’s small homeland.

Приморскому офицеру внутренних войск посмертно присвоено звание Героя России
Указом президента РФ от 9 января 2012 года за личное мужество, отвагу и героизм, проявленные при исполнении воинского долга в условиях, сопряженных с риском для жизни, начальнику штаба отряда специального назначения «Тайфун» Восточного регионального командования внутренних войск МВД России подполковнику Ивану Маслову присвоено звание Героя Российской Федерации (посмертно).
С июня по август 2011 года Маслов неоднократно принимал участие в специальных операциях по поиску и ликвидации вооруженных бандгрупп в Дагестане. 17 августа подразделения отряда вели поиск вооруженной бандгруппы в Хасавюртовском районе. После ее обнаружения завязался бой, в ходе которого бандиты попытались прорваться через боевые порядки подразделения спецназа. Подполковник Иван Маслов верно оценил обстановку и, чтобы не дать боевикам уйти от преследования, ввел в бой резерв, который сам и возглавил.
Замысел бандитов был нарушен и они, занимая выгодную позицию и прикрываясь складками местности, перенесли всю огневую мощь на приближающийся к ним резерв. Подполковник Иван Маслов в этих сложных условиях действовал профессионально и решительно, проявив лучшие качества офицера спецназа внутренних войск.
Совершая отвлекающие маневры и ведя огонь по боевикам, он дал возможность своим подчиненным уйти из-под флангового удара и после перегруппировки снова вступить в бой. Прикрывая боевых товарищей, Иван Маслов получил тяжёлое ранение, но продолжал вести огонь и управлять действиями подразделения. К сожалению, ранение оказалось несовместимым с жизнью, и офицер погиб на поле боя, до конца выполнив свой воинский долг.
Благодаря мужеству и героизму подполковника Ивана Маслова была предотвращена гибель военнослужащих подразделений спецназа, участвующих в бою, а бандгруппа нейтрализована. В результате спецоперации были уничтожены шесть активных членов бандподполья, обнаружена хорошо замаскированная, многоуровневая подземная база боевиков, стрелковое оружие, боеприпасы, средства связи и документы, изобличающие бандитов в террористической деятельности.
Иван Маслов родился в п. Угловое в 1978 году. После окончания в 2000 году Дальневосточного высшего командного училища проходил службу на различных должностях в воинской части внутренних войск во Владивостоке. В 2009 году он был переведен для прохождения дальнейшей службы в отряд специального назначения внутренних войск «Тайфун» в Хабаровск.
Похоронен в поселке Ярославский Приморского края на малой родине жены.
