“At the moment, the investigation concludes that there are no grounds for criminal prosecution of businessman Gegham Sargsyan,” the Investigative Committee said in an official statement.

The department explained that the criminal case was instituted on the fact, and not against a specific person. Gegham Sargsyan was originally a witness in a criminal case and was never procedurally considered by the investigation as a suspect. Moreover, it is noted that in the framework of the criminal case of robbery, Sargsyan was recognized as a victim.


"The data obtained to date by the investigation indicate that Sargsyan acted within the necessary defense against the criminal attack of four armed robbers," the TFR emphasized.


At the same time, it is noted that the final legal assessments will be made by the investigation after carrying out the entire volume of investigative actions.


"The Investigative Committee intends to conduct a thorough investigation of all the circumstances of this crime, in connection with which the investigation requested the prosecutor's office to accept a criminal case for robbery on the businessman’s family and to remove him from the police. In addition, measures are being taken to detain the fourth accomplice "In connection with this investigation, measures have been taken to protect the entrepreneur and his family members," they added to the TFR.


According to the investigation, a robbery against a 52-year-old businessman and his family was committed in the village of Oktyabrskoye, the city of Bogoroditsk, on April 7, from 20 to 22 hours. At that moment, the whole family of the entrepreneur was in the house - the owner, his wife, adult daughter and four of her minor children.

The businessman, defending his family, killed three of the four robbers who broke into his house with a kitchen knife. The fourth attacker managed to escape. Now the active search for the offender.

The landlord was hospitalized, his son's wife received medical care. A criminal case was initiated under subsection “a” of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of two or more persons).

Law enforcement authorities also managed to establish that all the attackers were residents of the Moscow region. However, the exact reason why they arrived in Tula and decided to attack the Sargsyan’s house has not yet been found out.
