It was a hot summer day. Inspector Varnike and his assistants, pursuing the criminals, crossed a small copulation and stumbled upon a group of swimmers in a small, but deep and fast river.
- Listen! - Inspector Varnike shouted. - We are looking for a guy of your age. It should be around here somewhere. Have you seen him?
The boys looked at each other in silence. Then one of them said:
- A few minutes ago some guy really came running here. It was here that he rushed into the river. Look, here he comes out of the water on the other side! Hurry up! If you want, I will give you my boat, otherwise it will slip out from under your nose.
“Let him run away,” said Inspector Varnike, “now I want to get to know you better.”
